Welcome to Diane… #21

This week Rosie, Adam and Mark get tangled up in Twin Peaks episode 19, also known as The Black Widow.

When Dale Cooper handed in his badge and gun he, and we, lost more than his earthly raiment and authority. Twin Peaks lost a lightning rod, and  this week on Diane storms strike haphazardly in the fashion of everyday magic.

Ben Horne raises a monolith, Little Nicky is plagued by persistent random misfortune, and Lana Milford is bewitching. Our monitors are pointed at deep space but perhaps the messages we’ve been intercepting are coming from right here in the woods.

She guardeth the Abyss. And in her is a perfect purity of that which is above, yet she is sent as the Redeemer to them that are below. For there is no other way into the Supernal mystery but through her and the Beast on which she rideth.

Welcome to Diane… #20

This week we cover Twin Peaks episode 18, also known as Masked Ball. As we find ourselves deep in season two the narrative structure seems to have collapsed

But isn’t this the fate of all structures?

Join us as  we channel the disembodied voice of Windom Earle and insist that THE KING MUST DIE. Ben Horne considers his fallen empire, Mayor Milford mumbles his way off stage, and Dale Cooper can no longer be constrained by the governing authorities of the FBI. Dear listener, it’s time to focus out beyond the edge of the board.

Thou mayest go to the mountain
Whereon three temples stand,
And see there this affair.
Keep watch
Inspect thyself
And shouldst thou not bathe thoroughly
The Wedding may work thy bane.
Bane comes to him who faileth here
Let him beware who is too light.

Welcome to the bit of the webpage where, after the wedding, we curiously seek engagement. We are  very lucky to have found such a warm and welcoming listener community, and your ears alone are more than enough for us to take much joy in…

BUT! If you’d like to spend a few moments showing your appreciation in then please  like, rate, review or otherwise big us up. Join the legion of like a half-a-dozen kickass Dianiacs who have left funky reviews of our silly thoughts on iTunes.

Here’s the links where you can best get in to it: subscribe to Diane on iTunes (US or UK), or follow us on Twitter and Tumblr. Find brand new episodes of Diane every Wednesday on Libsyn and this here website, known to initiates as Mindless Ones dot com.

Three days later: Welcome to Diane… #19.

In this episode Rosie, Bob and Mark explore the unfamiliar territory that is the seventeenth chapter of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, A Dispute Between Brothers. Beware the ides of Twin Peaks, beware Mordred’s promise, beware the Baba-Yaga’s welcome, and beware all close encounters of the firs kind*.

The great beast has fled – for now – and so we enter the wilderness unafraid. Catherine found her way through the dark night of the woods, Norma’s witch is finally banished, and the Bookhouse Boys crossed into forbidden lands where the cops go clothed in red. Ladies and gentlemen, would you care to join us for an incredibly pleasant evening of night fishing? The choice is yours, but remember, if you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch the big fish, you’ve got to go deeper.

The “alien” is as much a herald from the dark of the universe as it is a signal from the depths of our own minds.

Next episode: Meet Nicholas, so named for the patron of thieves.

*Sorry about that last one. Blame Christian, not us…

Welcome to Diane… #18.

As the curtains close on the Laura Palmer case, Rosie, Adam and Mark  grapple with the question of guilt as presented in episode 16 of Mark Frost and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, also known as Arbitrary Law.

Ben is confronted by his slimy ratbastard past, Donna and James wonder if their relationship is cursed… and the beast bit twice before Cooper could catch him. Leland says BOB killed Laura, but Leland’s just crazy, right?

*

It is in the name of the father that we must recognise the support of the symbolic function which, from the dawn of history, has identified his person with the figure of the law.

Lovely listeners, laughable losers and all you other Dianiacs, if you enjoyed this podcast please spend just a couple of seconds to help us out by clicking, sharing, liking or reviewing this episode. Next episode: Bro’s on the go

Welcome to Diane… #17.

Rosie, Adam and Mark eat too many sweets and stay up waaaay past bedtime to watch the fifteenth installment of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, Drive With a Dead Girl.

Naughtiness is afoot, and the theme is mischief. Leland’s dancing on the furniture. Norma’s new dad is betting on the sly, and Catherine Martell toys with Ben’s freedom. She’s a caution, isn’t she?

*

…within the death of an unknown creature, its vanished identity abstracted in terms of the geometry of this vehicle. How much more mysterious would be our own deaths…

Next episode: Gotcha! or The One that got Away

Welcome to Diane… #16.

Join Rosie, Adam and Bob as they grab a beer, crack some peanuts and settle into their groove at the Roadhouse. Something sad, bad and dreamy is happening in the fourteenth episode of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, Lonely Souls.

We witness the Reveal. Tojamura drops the mask, Harold Smith bares his soul, and the spirits at the roadhouse step into the spotlight. Laura Palmer was raped and murdered by XXXX, dear listener. We’re so sorry.

*

If once a man indulges himself in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he comes next to drinking and Sabbath-breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination.

We’re sorry that this episode is a bit of a downer, but we hope you’ll agree it was the way to go. Please forgive us and come back next episode when we will have… maybe a little more fun. Thanks too for bearing with us while we went on holiday for a few weeks.

If you;re still reading then perhaps you like what we are doing here – in which case please help us out by clicking, sharing, liking and reviewing our little podcast. Tell your friends, tell your enemies, tell your mothers, and tell that strange soul that sits there next to yours, the one that comes out to play in the firelight and tells you to do things you know you shouldn’t do. (Like reviewing a podcast…)

As well as all that, you can subscribe on iTunes, follow Diane… on Twitter and Tumblr, and find brand new episodes of Diane… every Wednesday on Libsyn.

Next episode: Take both your souls out into the sunshine with a nice round of golf.

Welcome to Diane… #15.

Rosie, Bob and Adam dose up on bad medicine before watching the lucky thirteenth episode of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, Demons.

This time on Diane infection threatens but the treatment seems to be off. Audrey’s had an overdose, Harold fights contamination, and if the wonders of home care don’t kill Leo Johnson the cake might. Off his meds, the one armed man reveals that his amputation was inspired by God, and invites us to consider the parasite.

We could all catch up on our sleep ladies and gentlemen, but restless nights and uneasy dreams go with the territory.

You mighty one who ascends the mountains
Who faces all the winds,
Angry wind, who’s rising is terrible
Fierce one, raging one, who comes on furiously,
Who roars at the world regions,  who wrecks the high mountains
Who parches the marshland, who withers its reeds

He confronted the woods, dropped its trees

He descended to the river, poured out ice

He struck the young man, hunched him over,
He knocked the young woman, hit her womb

Thanks once for listening and thanks a million for all your kind comments, likes, faves, gold stars and other internet signifiers of AWESOME. Please keep on clicking because otherwise poor little podcasts wither and die like Pazuzu wrecking the high mountains there.  Like the blasting desert wind, word of mouth is a great thing too – so please tell your friends and ancestors.

*Actually by jovi, we’re having a break while a few of us go on holiday or whatever, so no Diane for three weeks. Feel good about it: consider it a respite.

Next episode: Nothing major really, just a nice little ep to chat about

Rosie, Bob and Adam mull over the eleventh episode of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, Laura’s Secret Diary.

This week on Diane we expand our scope to encompass distance as we consider the theme of far flung friends. Andy sends the troops flying, regional dishes get exotic cachet, and though Josie returns to Harry’s arms she may as well be on the other side of the world.

Dear listener, when these frail shadows we inhabit now have quit the stage, we’ll meet, and raise a glass again in Valhalla.

*

Gladhouse is the fifth realm,
Where the towers of Valhalla, gold and broad and bright,
Stand. And the Stranger drags the weapon-dead from the battlefield

Thanks so much for listening listeners! The creamed corn of podcasting is friendly feedback so please like, follow, share, and rate us as a galaxy of stars and all that! Thank you again!

Next episode: Things get a little rough…

The woods around Twin Peaks have been speaking to us through logs and dreams. This week on Diane it’s over a week since Laura was murdered and a mouth has opened in the sky.

Working with the theme of black holes we consider gravitational pull, disappearing acts, and space. Creamed corn vanishes, Audrey is dragged from Cooper’s grasp, and alien messages are delivered.

Is this real, ladies and gentlemen, or some strange and twisted dream?

Expect: Messages from space, James’s singing and ruptures in reality

The moon may be high / Sha bop sha bop  / But I can’t see a thing in the sky / I only have eyes for you

I don’t know if we’re in a garden / Or on a crowded avenue / Sha bop sha bop

You are here / Sha bop sha bop / And so am I / Sha bop sha bop

Maybe millions of people go by / But they all disappear from view / And I only have eyes for you

Thanks to all our listeners, old and new, fake and true. We always want to hear from you!
