Right then, sorry about this. Gary Lactus here. Hello. We’re very nearly back. What we have here is an exciting mixture of TWO amazing formats.

FORMAT 1: I, Gary Lactus apologise my way through some reviews of things like, (well exactly like to be honest) Satellite Sam, The Walking Dead, Uber, Avengers, The Superior Foes Of Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Dial H.

FORMAT 2: A LIVE recording from Cartoon County, straight after The Beast Must Die (in his best Dan White costume), had been interviewed by Alex Fitch of Panel Borders, the radio programme and podcast about comics. He’s proper and it’s good so definitely go and enjoy it! What happened after isn’t as good as Panel Borders but it’s fun. Alex joins us along with plenty of folk like Dave Stone, Joe Decie, David Lloyd and Bobsy chipping in with opinions on comics! Actually it’s a bit of a drunken free for all but with me holding the mic throughout and going on with Bobsy for too long about Jupiter’s Legacy. There’s also talk of Aces Weekly and… I’m sure there was something else… Anyway, what’s the point in me listing everything here? I’m not some goddamn Narratorbot! Hopefully if you’ve read as far as this you’ll have some some idea as to whether you want to listen or not.

Oh yes, I do sing an amazing song which you’d never guess was completely improvised. And there’s a special new Summer Special theme tune.

It’s fffphreschhh!!!

August’s Cartoon County turned out to be the dawn of a bright new age for comics as David Lloyd and Bambos unsheathed their plans for the unique webcomic project, Aces Weekly.

Aces Weekly is a genuinely exciting venture which involves original new work from the likes of Herb Trimpe, Bill Sienkiewicz, Kyle Baker, John McCrea, Phil Hester, Steve Bissette, David Leach, Colleen Doran, David Hine, Henry Flint, Mark Wheatley, David Hitchcock, Lew Stringer, Carl Critchlow, Phill Elliott, Rory Walker and more!  Here’s how it’s going down:

Way back in March, Cartoon County played host to two speakers.  They were nice and good.  There names were Karrie Fransman and Ian Hague.

Karrie Fransman has created comics for The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, The New Statesman and Psychologies Magazine and published a graphic novel The House That Groaned with Random House’s Square Peg.  This is what it sounds like when she speaks:

Here’s June’s Cartoon County podchat.  This month’s speaker was Steve Carroll who has been working on Once Damaged, the account of one disabled woman’s ordeals and triumphs. The discussion went into some interesting areas regarding the sensitive nature of the piece. Most vocal in the discussion are David Lloyd, Paul Rafferty, Nye Wright, Dan Locke.

Here’s the latest Cartoon County chat, preserved for you in pod form.  Here we talk to Mark Buford. Mark is the creator of the daily strip, Scary Gary. We had an entertaining talk about the strip and this tough and overlooked branch of  sequential illustration.  Hope you enjoy it!

Back in August we talked to John Higgins John Higgins at the monthly Cartoon County meeting. Look! There he is with his creation, Razorjack!

We interviewed John a while back and now you can hear a pretty much unedited 1 hour conversation with the man in the company of Dez Skinn, David Lloyd and a host of other sequential storytellers.  The talk ranges from 70s head comics to superheroes, blue line colouring to computer colouring,  self publishing and Spider-Man’s underpants.
