THERE’S A MAN WITH A MULLET GOING MAD WITH A MALLET IN MILLETS

And then the robot walked up to the man and he said get out of town because you are a criminal but the man who was an evil genius cowboy said i’m not getting out of town in fact i will rob the bank and then he got his gang ane they did a raid on the bank and stole all of the robot money. All the robots cried and said oh who will help us but then spacehorse flew down and said i am spacehorse i am the heroic horse from space and i have super powers and can fly and the robots said the evil genius cowboy stole our money so spacehorse said i will help you and so he flew off. Later the evil genius cowboy and his gang were laughing and shooting guns in the air and counting all the robot money but then spacehorse flew down from the sky and he used his eye lazers and cut the evil genius cowboys gang in half and the evil genius cowboy tied to run away but spacehorse melted his hat and then flew up and then down really fast and landed on his head with his hooves which are made of space metal and the evil genius cowboys head popped like a balloon. Spacehorse flew the money back to town and all the robots threw spacehorse a party and they all drank and ate and fell asleep. While they were all sleeping spacehorse stole all their robot money and flew off and also did an atomic horse poo on the robot town and blew it up. Then spacehorse and the teen riders all had another party.

“Carol Corps” is so-called ‘cos that’s what the fans of Captain Marvel comics are called, I think? It’s a cutesy reward for their loyalty and dedication?

Ocht, good on ‘em. It’s good to feel part of a ‘fandom’, and to be aknowledged by creators, I’ll bet.

    I’ll never know.

That Tank Girl #2 cover is a real #2 of a cover, huh huh huh. But, y’know it’s edgier than cheesecake ‘cos they’ve got plasters and scars n’ that, eh, and they’re being real.

Is Bueno Excellente still a comedy rapist?

    I fucking hate comics.

(Though I loved Nameless and Crossed and I might check oot Midnighter and Constantine, purely for any nebulous positive LGBT content in the medium of toughdad comics)

  2. Alin Rauțoiu Says:

Kyle Rayner was “executed” by the Omega Men in the 8-pages preview DC released (they did one for all the DCYou series). Kind-of weird to tie such an important plot-point to something most people would skip.

  3. Gary Lactus Says:

    Thanks for filling that in.

  4. tam Says:

Read Hitman! It’s one of the best comics ever. Ennis, Mccrea AND the rarely acknowledged but fantastic inking by Gary Leach.
It’s not really a mature readers title, (although they get away with lots of ‘wankers’, ‘bollocks’ and many other non US swear words) so a lot of the things that Ennis would normally spell out have to be implied but it’s all the better for it. There’s lots of Baytor, (the best bartender ever) a great Flesh! homage and his girlfriend’s a zookeeper. What more could you ask for?

  5. The Beast Must Die Says:

I remember enjoying Zombie Night at the Gotham Aquarium a lot

  6. Aaron Says:

I for one would like to hear more about these holiday plans. Perhaps in a new segment, “Silence! Because I’m On the Phone With The Travel Agent”

  7. tam Says:

And then there could be an exciting crossover event when our heroes try to communicate coherently with the travel agent with their mouths absolutely full of delicious, (recently delivered) food

  8. Derek Says:

Been busy busy but agree on all counts about the strength of this past week’s offerings. You talked about Johnny Viable a couple weeks back, but did either/any of you snag The Caterer? I got Viable, but this thing is the real revelation for me. Puts me in mind of SubGenuis and JR “Bob” Dobbs….

  9. Derek Says:

Also reading O Tricky Cad by Jess (partner to Robert Duncan), which includes surreal reworkings of Dick Tracy comics amongst other collage works. Where Aylett expands this type of work into a gonzo extra-textual mythology that draws a lot of attention to itself while still managing to work really well, Jess remains mysteriously coded and precious, very close and private, like a slightly more integrated and various Henry Darger.

Have been inspired to purchase a cutting mat and a sweet set of X-acto tools, so this stuff is apparently my thing right now.

    And speaking of collage: http://samplerman.tumblr.com/

  10. The Beast Must Die Says:

Oh Samplerman is the bees knees. As Mindless sent this my way recently. I loved the Caterer – more so than Johnny Viable

  11. Zakaria Says:

I do enjoy posting on the site. AND now that I hear I’ve been inadvertently reminding you of the prizes-thing/guilting you when posting, I’ll make sure to post some more. Because I’m eeevil.

(Don’t worry, really. I also forget)

  12. Asteele Says:

Enjoyed crossed 100, but that 5.99 price point is crazy.

  13. Thrills Says:

Ooft, that’s steep. My copy was only $3.99 (not sure what that is in £). Perhaps your local shop is only selling expensive variant covers? In which case, that is not cool of them!

  14. John Bishop/ Eyemelt Says:

Tam is always going on about Hitman, and to be fair I did massively enjoy it at the time. I was trying to assemble a full set before re-reading the lot, but never did and they were a casualty in my almighty comics cull when I moved dahn Saaf. Sigh. I need to rectify that. Did they collect the whole series in trade?

Is your torment for Zakaria some sort of experiment? Like holding a treat out for a dog only to take it away? I would suggest putting the poor lad out of his misery, but actually I’m enjoying this eternal tease.

More love for God Hates Astronauts! That makes me happy. And that Samplerman thing is brain-meltingly brilliant.

    Thanks gents!
