With us, it was Huckleberry Hound.
I ended up leaving him at playgroup for another little boy to love.
That panel of Mr. Andrews standing on the bed next to sleeping Cindy is horrible. Noooo
Still my favourite kids comic (sorry Bobsy/The Phoenix), not least of all because it just keeps on shitting me up.
I can’t wait to introduce the o-spring to C&B, but when it’s as stunning and creepy as Mr Andrews I wonder if the date isn’t slipping away…
(Phoenix isn’t the best comic for kids, it’s just the best comic)
(discuss… etc obv lol)
I’ve been enjoying The Beano, which had recently stepped up its game in terms of quality and revivified characters. All the strips have enjoyed an upsurge in energy, the Menace/Minx/Dodger parents have been rejuvenated and redesigned to make them a little less interchangeable, and the cohesiveness of Beanotown has been emphasised – i.e.: they all clearly live in the same place running at the same time, ala Marvel New Yoik.
Of course, that all ended with the 75th Anniversary issue, and they have now decided that no character, comedy or comico can be even half as interesting as Will I Am. Seriously: overnight, they have pissed away all the good work of the first six months of the year in favour of outdated references, weak caricature and the kind of sleb-worship that I’m pretty sure killed The Dandy.
I blame Harry Hill. I really, truly do.
Oh! But do buy the Dennis The Menace Megazine. There’s a collection of Alexander Matthews’ Nuke Noodle stories, a proper full-length Dennis story (with creator credits!), and a boss water pistol.
Best. Thing. Ever.
David Cronenberg to play Mr Andrews in the movie?
LOL Mr Andrews.
