January’s Cartoon County meeting was lucky enough to play host to Chris Weston, artist for The Filth, 2000AD, The Twelve and lots more. Listen now as Chris talks of his apprenticeship with Trigan Empire’s Don Lawrence to working on films such as Akira and The Book Of Eli and his shamanic meeting with Bizarro.

  3. Thrills Says:

As an art-dweeb, I love all the talk about what pens and brushes people use. And I share Chris Weston’s woe regarding art shops all closing down. The good one in Edinburgh has just shut and been replaced by yet another Scotland tourist shop. Booo.

I love Chris Weston’s art, me, so cheers for this interview! First time I saw his stuff was in Canon Fodder by Mark ‘Dark Thrillar’ Millar, and it BLEW MY MIIIND. Aye, everything does look made of meat! Insect meat. And I really like when he colours his own stuff, it’s good and purpley and yellow.

The Bizarro story made me feel really awkward, though. I don’t think anyone in that atory won out. Nnngh.
